Liberty Station is a premier waterfront housing development in San Diego, California. This community has several districts including residential, education, and retail.
Liberty Station’s residential district is comprised of two sections with one for military housing and the other a subdivision that was created by the McMillin Corporation. You’ll find many homes influenced by a Spanish architectural design. The military neighborhood has 500 units, most of which are townhomes, as well as sports facilities and playgrounds. The civilian subdivision features row homes, single family homes, and town homes. It was named as one of the best places to retire in the city by Money magazine in 2007. But families of all sizes also live in this area.
The San Diego Unified School District is the second largest in the state. Students in this community may attend facilities like Point Loma High School as well as highly ranked Loma Portal Elementary School and Dana Middle School. There is a group of public charter schools here that are known as High Tech High and includes five high schools, two middle schools, and an elementary facility. The high school students in the charter system can walk to the retail and commercial district during lunch breaks.
Liberty Station was once the site of the Naval Training Center San Diego. It is located off of San Diego Bay on a boat channel and is a few miles north of San Diego’s downtown region. This project covers 361 acres and includes a hotel district, a promenade for activities, an office district, and open park space. There are many shopping venues in this area including Point Loma Plaza, Rosecrans Shopping Center, and the West Point Loma Plaza Center.
San Diego is California’s second largest city and the nation’s eighth. Its economy relies on tourism, manufacturing, international trade, and military defense related activities.
